Somerville secured this office fit-out project by competitive tender; working as main interior fit-out contractor and design lead. This fun city centre project was delivered for a worldwide engineering client, born and bred in the USA. Set in the heart of Belfast, this office fit-out benefitted from a prime location in the city centre. The project was located on the top floor which offered the client and their team panoramic views overlooking some of Belfast’s most well-known landmarks.
An enjoyable project to work on, the scheme possessed relaxed, loft-style characteristics. The space was rich with natural light, thanks to the vast glazing on the top floor of the building and throughout the mezzanine space. The original exposed brickwork offered a rustic warmth to the office, while the bare steel beams provided a cool, industrial finish to the completed workspace.

As main contractor, the Somerville team project managed the scheme, from mechanical, electrical and flooring to ceilings and lighting. Specialist joinery was provided which was manufactured at the inhouse factory, just on the outskirts of Belfast. FF&E (furniture, fixtures & equipment) were also integrated to meet the clients office interior requirements. Frosted partitions divided the large boardroom and smaller collaboration pods which offered more privacy.
The adjacent kitchen was designed to be a bright and airy eating/social space. Its crisp white units and matching gloss tiles offered a clean and contemporary kitchen, with plenty of high-level and low-level seating for staff which encouraged a relaxed interaction. Pops of colour were incorporated with the modern seating, which enhanced the neutral backdrop. The exposed brickwork coupled with frosted glass, and acoustic ceiling baffles produced an enviable office industrial-style setting.
Somerville developed a great working relationship with the client and delivered an energetic interior scheme that provided them with exactly what they hoped for - a fun yet functional workspace for their busy team.
